Because I used to have a job organizing the logistics for festivals with the biggest production company in the country, these days – despite the fact that I no longer work for them – I am able to secure free entry into most of the top festivals in the country. This means that I have consequently become a bit of an aficionado on the subject of the country’s festivals as I make sure that I go to at least seven each summer. If you are looking for an event that is both child and adult friendly and offers some of the most mind-blowing entertainment that one can imagine, then I would suggest that you head for Glastonbury festival in Somerset.
This is the first festival on each summer and in my opinion also the best because it offers such an incredibly eclectic range of art that always features some of the most renowned musical acts in the world. There are also dozens of magical moments sprinkled throughout the five days of hedonistic celebration and whether you want to sit round a camp fire in the stone circle singing songs until dawn or rave the night away in the dance arena to the likes of Fat Boy Slim and SBTRKT, Glastonbury is the place that you should head.
Another great festival if you are into dance music is Creamfields near Liverpool, which always features the best DJs on the planet each year. There is no camping at this event though so if you find yourself looking for a local cheap hotel Liverpool centre is the place to begin your search. This is because there are just so many Liverpool city centre hotels that the competition is fierce and so the prices generally get pushed down. Last year my friend Max ended up so delirious by the end of this twenty-four hour rave that we found him wandering through the mud wearing nothing but his boxer shorts and one shoe.
